July

Another month down.  This summer really has flown by.

At the beginning of the month we celebrated the 4th of July in lovely Hailey, ID.  We watched their parade and then walked the streets for a couple hours.  It was a warm day, but we had fun just people watching and enjoying the sunshine!

That night we did our own little fireworks.   Ok, as you can see from the photo it wasn't nighttime when we did them.  It was like 8:00, but we were all tired and a certain *someone* was grumpy and ready for bed so I told Chase I didn't care if it was dark and Harper certainly didn't, so we just did a few in our backyard and it was totally fine with me!

This is what Harper looked like most of the time.  She kept saying, "My fiworks so so loud!"

Chase went in to check on Harper before heading to bed and this is what he found.  How did she end up like this?  When I moved her up onto her bed she didn't even flinch.

That weekend we decided to go camping.  We had to make it just an overnighter so we didn't go very far.  We went up a little past Sun Valley and found a lovely campsite.  Chase got us all set up just before the sun set and we just walked around and relaxed that night.  The next morning we ate breakfast, broke camp, and went for a hike.  Chase found a pretty easy, short hike for us to do (1.25 miles, but it was all uphill) since {ahem} some of us have certain limitations right now.  We hiked into 4th of July Lake and it was a GORGEOUS hike.  Honestly one of those where every little turn in the trail you felt like you had to take a picture.  It was so green and you followed the creek all the way and there were wildflowers all over.  It was just perfect.  I made us stop a couple times, and people coming down the trail kept commenting on me being pregnant and hiking.  It's amazing what people say to pregnant women.  Anyway.  We had a great hike!

We ate our picnic lunch on a rock by the lake (it was a small mountain lake, as you can see) and soaked up the scenery.  We got rained on pretty good for about 10 minutes but then it cleared up.  We were just relaxing until...

Harper decided she just couldn't stay out of the water...

So Daddy took her swimming.  What a good dad.  He said the water was FREEZING!  I took pictures from the sidelines.

Oh so pregnant.  (At this point I was only 7 1/2 months, but that shirt makes me look bigger.  Don't judge.)

The next weekend we went up to Chase's fam's cabin in Cascade.  It had been a year since we'd been there and it was so relaxing and nice!  On Sunday afternoon we ventured down to the meadow below the cabin to check on our initials carved into those trees you see in the distance.  Initials have been carved into those trees for years.

We got down there to discover that the tree we had carved in (before we got married...even before Chase's mission) had fallen down.  Eek!  Not a good omen.  Good thing we don't believe in that stuff.  So we documented our old love and then Chase got to work on a new set of initials of our growing family.

Old initials (MW + CF '03)

View of the cabin from the trees

 New initials (C-M-H Fly '12)
We'll have to add one more letter pretty soon (We have GOT to figure out her name soon!)

Sure do love my family!  (Harper calls us a "happy shamily")

We got back from the cabin Monday night and Harper had her first swim lesson Tuesday evening.  (Her first day was supposed to be Monday but we missed it.)  Boy oh boy was she excited!  Chase took her the first week and I took her the second week while he was out of town for work.  She loved being in the pool, but in typical Harper fashion, she would NOT do things the rest of the class was doing until we got home in the bath.  She's so stubborn!  Where did this come from?!  But she had a great teacher and loved her swimming lessons.

Now we're just in waiting mode for this baby girl.  She's not due until the 26th, but I'm hoping she comes at least a LITTLE early.  We've got most of the baby stuff done, but my list of house cleaning is growing longer and longer and I just don't have the energy to keep up!  But we sure are excited to meet as-of-yet-unnamed-baby-girl-Fly!
